GSMAR – Orientation Protocol

Registration for Orientation must be made a minimum of two full days before the beginning of the first class.

Orientation for Members is a two day course. Members are expected to complete this course on two consecutive days within four months of their join date.

There will always be a SIGN-IN sheet. Day 1 AM, Day 2 AM and PM. It is your responsibility to sign-in prior to the beginning of class.

100% Classroom attendance is mandatory. This means that you should be in your seat ready for class at the appointed time, you should leave the classroom only during designated break times except for a personal emergency. You should remain in the classroom until the class session has been completed and the students are dismissed by the instructor.

If a personal emergency does occur during your Orientation, please inform the instructor or staff as you leave if possible or call the Association office as soon as you are able.

Cell phone calls, trips to the bathroom, refills of refreshments, conversations between students DO NOT constitute a personal emergency and therefore are not valid reasons to be out of the classroom.

You should NOT expect to take care of business with Association staff on Orientation Days. You need to focus on class and we are very busy and stressed trying to make your time as pleasant and meaningful as possible.

If there is anything that needs the attention of the staff regarding restrooms, kitchen, student materials please let us know during break time.

The classroom temperature is set at 73º. This is the temperature that seems to please the majority of our students. If the units need to been changed from heat to cool to maintain classroom comfort please let staff know as the thermostats do not switch automatically.

Orientation is prepared and presented for your benefit and to meet mandatory requires of NAR. The instructors are volunteers. The facility is one of the finest in the nation. Please treat both with the respect they deserve.

And remember, when you are standing at the door of that 5 million dollar listing with a more than interested buyer and your lockbox key is tamper locked or expired, it is us that you will have to call. So, if you are going to be unpleasant during orientation you should NOT wear your name tag.
